The Mayor andCouncil proposed a <strong>City</strong>-appointed <strong>Steering</strong> <strong>Committee</strong>,assisted by the <strong>City</strong>’s <strong>Plan</strong>ning Director and the <strong>City</strong>’sconsultant, to push the Agenda document developmentalong as well as to be the conduit for public opinion fromthe citizens, business community and civic groups. The<strong>City</strong>-appointed <strong>Steering</strong> <strong>Committee</strong> was composed <strong>of</strong>:• Mike Crow – <strong>Lawrenceville</strong> <strong>City</strong> Council• Brad Leonard – <strong>Lawrenceville</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ning Director• Marie Beiser – <strong>Lawrenceville</strong> DDA, DowntownArchitectural Review Board• Mary Thompson – Downtown Architectural ReviewBoard• Eron Moore – <strong>Lawrenceville</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ning Commission• Craig Willis – Local Businessman/<strong>Lawrenceville</strong>Trade and Tourism Association• Gene McKay – Local resident• Joe Walter/Steve Sappington (Precision <strong>Plan</strong>ning,Inc.) – technical guidance and facilitationThe <strong>Steering</strong> <strong>Committee</strong> met roughly every two weeks tochew on the issues and opportunities affecting theircommunity. The <strong>Steering</strong> <strong>Committee</strong> also went back totheir boards and agencies, neighborhoods and civic groupsto “float” ideas and to bring back stakeholders input. Many<strong>of</strong> these same persons were involved in the collaborativeeffort undertaken during the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI)Downtown Master <strong>Plan</strong>ning experience, so they werealready familiar with the vision process and by virtue <strong>of</strong> theresidency and service to the community, had definiteopinions about the future <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lawrenceville</strong>.Capturing the Pulse <strong>of</strong> the CommunityOne <strong>of</strong> the more interesting exercises in capturing the pulse<strong>of</strong> the community was through the written and online surveyprocess conducted in February-April, 2008.
