Chapter 2 - Getting Started With <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong>2.3 An Initial <strong>Design</strong> SessionThe remainder of this chapter and all of Chapter 3 provide introductory overviews of the mainapplication areas and the 3D design interface.Before proceeding further in this User Guide, we strongly recommend that you work throughtwo of the basic Part <strong>Design</strong> tutorials, Introduction to Sketching and Constraints, and Modeling aSimple Part.Working through these tutorials will give you a good understanding of the basic modeling terms andconcepts used in <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong>. You will also become familiar with 3D viewing techniques in <strong>Alibre</strong><strong>Design</strong>.By completing these tutorials now you will be better prepared for the material in the subsequentsections.2.4 The Home Window<strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong> is comprised of five main components: the Home window, the Repository, theMessage Center, the Team Manager, and design and drawing areas referred to as workspaces.Each component opens in a separate window that you can independently resize, position or tile.When you launch <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong>, the Home window appears first and is always open while <strong>Alibre</strong><strong>Design</strong> is running. The Home window serves as the starting point for all other areas of <strong>Alibre</strong><strong>Design</strong>. Whenever you have another <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong> window open, you can quickly access the Homewindow by clicking the <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong> icon in the lower right corner of any other <strong>Alibre</strong> <strong>Design</strong>window.13
