Chapter 15 - The Repository15.7 Previewing a Repository ItemYou may view a thumbnail preview of items in your repository. Previews are not available for nonnativeitems.‣ To preview a repository item:1. In the Repository Explorer, browse to the folder containing the item that you want to preview.The list of available items appears.2. Select the item that you want to preview. The thumbnail preview appears in the ItemProperties area. The thumbnail preview represents the item's display orientation during thelast save operation.Note: You must save items individually in a workspace before a preview is displayed in theRepository. For example if you create parts in the context of an assembly, only the top-levelassembly will previewed in the repository. You must open and save each part in the assembly inorder to generate a preview image in the repository.15.8 Renaming a Repository ItemYou can rename items or folders in a repository. When renamed, references to the item or folder areautomatically adjusted. To rename an item or folder, you must have Write privileges. Its name maybe the same as another item in the repository folder (or even the folder name), as long as the itemsare different types (for example, part or assembly). You cannot rename an item that is checked out.‣ To rename an item:1. Select the item that you want to rename.2. Right-click the item and select Rename from the pop-up menu; or from the Edit menu selectRename. The Rename Item (or Rename Folder) dialog box appears.3. Type the new name. The name must meet the naming requirements (see below).433
