Staffing and Administrative support and PR<strong>of</strong>essional Development5. Program Standard: Staff pr<strong>of</strong>essional/career development ef<strong>for</strong>ts areassisted and supported by administrative policies, practices, andappropriate resources.A <strong>Quality</strong> Program:1. Requires administrators and supervisors to support the provision <strong>of</strong> andstaff participation in staff development and in-service training that addressindividual staff needs.2. Conducts supportive staff evaluations in accordance with guidelines andprogram policies.3. Keeps pr<strong>of</strong>essional training resources updated and includes in<strong>for</strong>mationabout early childhood research, teaching methods, techniques <strong>for</strong>classroom management, developmentally appropriate practices,technology, and child development/learning theories.4. Supports staff affiliation with local, state, or national pr<strong>of</strong>essionalorganizations and organizations that advocate <strong>for</strong> young children andfamilies.6. Program Standard: To achieve optimum educational outcomes <strong>for</strong> thechildren, the program applies staffing patterns and practices that allow<strong>for</strong> maximum staff/child interaction, program implementation, andconsistency <strong>of</strong> staff. [LRCCC-R400.5105; 5105b]A <strong>Quality</strong> Program:1. Maintains a recommended range <strong>for</strong> enrollment <strong>of</strong> no more than 18children per group or the number <strong>of</strong> children specified in applicableregulations/laws.2. Assigns a parapr<strong>of</strong>essional in preschool classes enrolling more than eightchildren or the number <strong>of</strong> children specified in applicable regulations/laws.3. Assigns staff as appropriate to support the IEP or IFSP requirements <strong>of</strong> achild with a disability.4. Assures that the preschool classes are under the direction <strong>of</strong>administrative/supervisory personnel in consultation with a specialist inearly childhood education.5. Provides staff with paid time <strong>for</strong> planning with colleagues and specialists.6. Enhances staff retention as well as greater continuity and consistency <strong>for</strong>children by providing supervision and mentoring <strong>of</strong> staff.7.
