Learning Environment2. Program Standard: The curriculum is designed to address all aspects<strong>of</strong> children’s development and to further their learning with emphasison the unique needs <strong>of</strong> the young child. [LRCCC-R400.5106]A <strong>Quality</strong> Program:1. Relates each experience, activity, routine, and transition to curricular goals.2. Incorporates spontaneous learning experiences into the daily schedule asa means to further children’s growth and development.3. Establishes two-way communication between homes and school sothat home events are considered in planning a child’s day and schoolexperiences are communicated to the families.4. Assures that children have ample opportunities <strong>for</strong> playing with others.5. Handles the separation process from home to school with sensitivity andrespect <strong>for</strong> the children’s individual needs.6. Recognizes children’s anti-social behavior as a lack <strong>of</strong> skill or knowledgeand appropriately addresses it as part <strong>of</strong> growth and development.7. Assures that adults in the program recognize that children think andreason differently from more mature learners.8. Designs activities, transitions, and routines that reflect children’s attentionspan, need <strong>for</strong> physical activity, social interaction and attention fromcaring adults.3. Assures that children have experiences to enhance their socialdevelopment, including acquisition <strong>of</strong> interpersonal skills, self-discipline,caring, and respect <strong>for</strong> others.2. Assures that children have experiences to enhance their emotionaldevelopment, including the development <strong>of</strong> basic attitudes <strong>of</strong> trust,autonomy, and initiative, as well as a positive self concept.3. Assures that children have experiences to enhance their intellectualdevelopment, including knowledge <strong>of</strong> the physical world, creativeproblem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and appropriate socialknowledge important to the culture.4.
