2. Purpose for Crossing<br />

Survey participants in both San Diego and Tijuana were asked, “When you cross the border,<br />

what is your primary purpose for crossing?” The results:<br />

The above results do not indicate the proportion of people that are crossing on a daily or monthly<br />

basis – the question simply asks when the people cross, what are they generally crossing for.<br />

Given that in our Analysis #1 report (Feb. 2004, Table 1F), we reported on the reported<br />

frequency of crossings made by both San Diegans and Tijuanenses, it seemed appropriate to do a<br />

crosstabulation of San Diegans’ reported border crossing frequency with the purpose of their<br />

crossing. The results are below:
