qualifications designed to provide
specialist work-related qualifications
in a range of sectors. It will give
you the knowledge, understanding
and skills needed to prepare for
employment.
The qualification also provides career
development opportunities for those
already in work.

First qualification, you can progress
to, or within employment and/or
continue study in the same, or related
vocational area.

The purpose of the Pearson BTEC
Level 3 90-credit Diploma in
Applied Science is to help people
to become occupationally ready to
take up employment in the applied
science sector at the appropriate
level. This can follow either directly
after achieving the qualification,
or via the stepping stone of Higher
Education (HE) in university or
college. By studying a BTEC Level
3, you will develop the knowledge,
understanding and skills required by
the sector which includes essential
employability skills, and how to apply
learning in real work contexts.
The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 90-credit
Diploma in Applied Science (Medical
Science) is a 90-credit qualification
that consists of four mandatory units
plus optional units that provide for a
combined total of 90 credits.
