been something of an interest for
me and the opportunity to gain a
qualification in my field definitely
gives me more credibility.
The College enabled me to take
my NVQ Level 3 in Professional
Cooking and it was great to be able
to ask advice and guidance from
the teachers who taught the course.
I learnt some good techniques and
gained skills which enabled me to
solidify my knowledge.
This year I won the Observer Food
Monthly Outstanding Achievement
Award for creating an inventive
and healthy menu in my current
workplace - a school for autistic
children. When I first started, there
were just two things on the menu.
For me, developing the menu was
about giving the students more
choice, quality and preparing them
for the outside world.”
