TRAVELLIVE 02-2017

I often save the air tickets of every trip I have taken with my friends and family. Sometimes, when looking at each of them, I feel like all the emotion and memories are kept inside the small piece of paper. In my latest journey, my companions were the two little kids, Amy and Alex, travelling with their mother. It was amazing as I as was able to stay awake for hours during the flight, eagerly listening to the adventures of these little travelers. Among their stories, the one about globe impressed me the most. When they were asking their mom where they will go the next time, she just gave them the small globe, smiled, and let Amy point at one of the place on it. Amy and Alex were so excited, screaming with glee when their mom told them about the next place. The kids together made a plan to save money, and prepare for their next trip. From time to time, the family had traveled around the world with that globe. They showed me that no matter where we go, one should plan their voyage with love so as to make every trip into an exciting page of life’s book. The book of my life is marked with the air tickets I have collected over the years and the memories attached to each of them. It has been said that life is a journey, not a destination. The purpose then, is to travel to new places, experience and learn new things, relax after working days, or to find yourself, your passion and love. Have you got your next journey planned?

The tranquil Bolzano
Nothing could be better than completing your day in the Dolomites by
enjoying cuisine and wine in the tranquil capital Bolzano. Because of
the local climate, cool weather and lots of rain and frost, grapevines
in the Bolzano's vineyards are bended to make sure that clusters of
grapes are covered by foliage, offering the highest quality of fruit. If you
are familiar with well balanced wines from the Chianti region or tasty
wines from Southern Italy, then Schiava, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer
will bring you a new distinct impression.
The lack of sunshine makes wine in Bolzano less fragrant with fruit
flavors like that in other regions. Instead, wine is more sophisticated
with different characteristics. For example, Schiava is gentle and
youthful; Lagrein is fascinating, while Gewürztraminer is elegant.
Bolzano food remains a product of influence from Austria and
Germany. There are many bakeries selling German breads and apple
cakes, as well as carts selling sausages along the streets. It's hard to
find a Chinese restaurant or Kebab on the city which preserves many
traditional values as Bolzano.
Further information:
Transportation:
ñ The most suitable means of
transportation to the Dolomites is by
train. It takes only about 2 hours to
travel by train between Bolzano and
big cities such as Munich or Verona,
Austria. Travelling by rain allows you to
take it the beautiful landscapes through
majestic mountains.
Weather:
ñ It's cold in the Dolomites because of
the high mountainous terrain. Spring
(February and March) is the last period
when the mountains are covered with
snow. Daytime temperatures are around
7 - 10 o C, and about -2 - 2 o C at night.
Therefore, you should bring with you
warm outfits, and warm jackets, as well
as waterproof hiking shoes if you want
to participate in trekking or skiing.
Languages:
Although it's a popular tourist
destination, Alto Adige is the area with
the smallest number of immigrants in
Italy. Thus, all places are safe and serene.
You can communicate with locals in
English, Italian, or German.
Activities:
ñ Apart from the mentioned
destinations, you can buy a ticket to
go skiing in Dolomites for 50EUR per
day. For details, please visit http://www.
dolomitisuperski.com/en
Notes:
ñ If you don't want to rent a car
to travel among different areas of
Dolomites but still want to take in
the beauty of Dolomites, then book a
tour with local guides at http://www.
