Preparations for this years Lilias Day are continuing
apace with a number of new attractions confirmed
for the event on Saturday 6 June.
The day will feature a historic parade through the
village and a Lilias festival in Kilbarchan Park with
a mix of events, food village, dog show, music
and stalls. The festivities will culminate with a
spectacular skydiving display by Scotland’s leading
skydiving clubs, Skydive Strathallan.
Other new additions include Big Top Circus who
have been lined up to lay on stilt walkers and
entertainers for the parade and will run a circus
skills workshop in the park. They will be joined in
the park by a battle re-enactment group who will
set up camp and show off their traditional combat
skills using authentically-styled weapons.
Wish Upon a Star will make a welcome return
with their array of well known princess and hero
characters joining the parade and mixing with the
crowds at the park.
A big prize raffle to win £1000 has also been
organised with the lucky winner to be drawn on the
day itself. Tickets are available from the organisers
and will be on sale at various businesses in the
area.
Chairman, Graeme Stockton, is delighted with the
way this years’ event is shaping up: “The response
so far has been really encouraging, even better than
last year! We’ve been met with enthusiasm on all
fronts so far with local businesses, organisations
and individuals getting on board to supporting our
efforts. There are several new organisations taking
part in the parade on themed floats.”

This is a joint fundraising venture by the club and Kilbarchan West Church

Former Kilmacolm resident, Alison Bone who is helping to arrange this
event assures readers this will be a great evening of music and comedy.
Arts Festival - Rose Room
Sat 28 March - McKillop Hall, Main St, Lochwinnoch at 7.30pm
Sharing a love of Swing music and the style of the great Django Reinhardt and
Stephane Grappelli, Glasgow-based Scottish Jazz Awards finalists Rose Room
have become one of Scotland’s leading ensembles influenced by the Gypsy
Jazz genre.
Joint Chair, Susan Calcluth adds: “We are keen to add new events and activities
each year and the skydive is a real coup and will certainly encourage Liliasdayers
to stay in the park to watch what will be one of the real highlights of the
day. We’re keen to continue the festival theme we introduced last year with a
food village, music and other activities.”
