Combined expenditure of almost 1.5 million for Kilbarchan
and Lochwinnoch for road and bridge repairs, was approved
at the Council's Environmental Board on the 11th March.
Wheatlands Drive, Meadside Avenue in Kilbarchan, and
Lochlip Road, Johnshill and Bridesmill Road in Lochwinnoch,
will be part of Renfrewshire Council's resurfacing programme
for the coming year. The resurfacing of Wheatlands as part
of the bus route in Kilbarchan is long overdue for repair, and
something I had been asked to pursue by many residents, so
I am pleased that this will commence in the summer. The late
summer will also see the start of the major construction work
on Lochwinnoch bridge, which will address a long standing
weight restriction issue, and traffic management arrangements which will bring
improved traffic flow to the village. As a member of the Environmental Board
I have long advocated for these improvements, and as a local councillor will
continue to work in the best interests of both Kilbarchan and Lochwinnoch.
Following the incident in November, another totally unacceptable robbery
occurred at Kilbarchan Co-op on the 28th February. Extra police patrols are
being carried out, and the police are working with the stores management to
review security and prevention methods. The provision of a re-deployable CCTV
camera to cover the premises is also being investigated.
I was also very concerned to receive reports of children playing “chicken” by the
railway line at Milliken Park Station. Needless to say this is highly dangerous
and I have had discussions with Gary Brown from British Transport Police
asking that security be reviewed. Transport police are also visiting local schools
to speak to children about the dangers and I would make a plea to parents to
reinforce the message.
Kilbarchan General Society is celebrating its 250th anniversary. It has over
the years funded many local projects
including the first fire engine in the
village, and continues to support
local organisations and individuals.
I am therefore delighted to support
Renfrewshire Council's plan to hold a
reception to recognise this landmark
event.
The Old Library Centre
If you are passing by our window you will see a display of some Examples of
Samples. The display shows the kind of printing, sizes, enlargements reductions
and the resources which are available for use. Our pricing is very competitive
and is scaled to the number of copies you may require.
Please think about using our resources and services. The payment for these
the facility. The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 10am-12noon and from
2pm until 4pm. Everyone is made welcome.
