Kilmacolm Primary School
Through their topic of Space, our Nursery pupils have transformed an area of the Nursery into a space ship. They
have engaged in space related stories as well as having the opportunity to engage in role play. They have been
learning to sequences days and they are developing their awareness of the routines in the Nursery.
P2/1 have been getting to know Katie
Morag and her family who live on the Island
of Struary. The children are learning about
life on a Scottish Island and are able to
confidently compare and contrast it with
their own lives and experiences.
P4 confidently entertained our parents
and family members at their recent Viking
Assembly and showcase of learning. They
were able to demonstrate their knowledge
and skills developed through the context
of the Vikings.
Our musical P5 were invited to perform a
selection of songs at St Columba Church
to celebrate World Day of Prayer. They
performed beautifully as always.
P6 enjoyed a very interesting visit from
the Scottish Parliament. We undertook
our own debate about whether or not all
new cars in Scotland should be electric.
Lots of good arguments for and against
were put forward before we decided
that all new cars in Scotland should
not be electric.
Fairtrade
To celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight, Primary 7 organised and promoted a Fairtrade
Stall and welcomed pupils, staff and parents. The stall sold a range of products
and worked effectively to raise awareness of the importance of buying Fairtrade
products.
Burns and Scots Poetry Competition
What a braw bunch o wains we have! We have just celebrated our annual Burns Competition and the standard
Living Eggs
Our confident and responsible Primary 3 and
Primary 3/2 have had some fluffy visitors in their
classroom over the last few weeks. They have
been exploring first level science through a ‘first
wing’ experience of the hen life cycle and related
food chains. Everyone at KPS has enjoyed
this memorable
l e a r n i n g
experience.
World book day
World Book Day was filled with fun, imagination, creativity and wonderfully rich literacy learning experiences. Our school was
bursting with life, with an array of weird and wonderful characters from books. The costumes were creative, inspiring and
most importantly stimulated discussion on favourite book characters; generated opinions and formed debates over much
loved books and characters.
