Not Missed the Start of EVERY Single Bull Market
As you heard in Chapter 1, using this system of timing the market, in
the last 50 years Bill has not missed the start of every single bull market.
Th at is pretty impressive isn’t it? It is so impressive that I would like to
say it again for emphasis:
Bill O’Neil, using this timing system has not missed the start of every single
bull market over the last 50 years.
And it is no coincidence that this same timing system was the one that
I used to time my fi rst bull market in 2003.
In the spring of 2008, Bill said that the timing system he uses wasn’t his.
Instead he said that the system was based on how the market works. 74
What Bill also mentioned is that the way the market works is the same
way it has worked throughout its entire history. And I agree. Th is is a
very good point to highlight.
An Investment System Based on Facts,
Not Opinions
Th e timing system that Bill O’Neil uses and I use is based on facts
and therefore it’s nobody’s system. Yes, facts that have come from the
entire 125 year history of the stock market and not opinions. Th at is
probably why it tends to work so well. Th is same timing system also
helped my clients and I to correctly get out at the end of the 2003-2007
bull market. 75 Th e market topped out in October 2007 and during the
3 month period that followed, the system my clients and I use to invest
beat the Nasdaq by 21%. 76
Th is was the period when the market fell 19% in just 3 months. However
my clients and I were in a cash based fund which gained 2% over that
same period.
As they say, timing is everything.
