the timing system, the downside was the fact that when you got out you
had tax to pay on your gain.
Th at hurt your compounded returns. And so when I realised you could
do this getting in and getting out without paying tax, I was thrilled.
Th is is when my idea of Trend Investing using ISAs was born. I realised
that by using an ISA you could make gains when the market was in an
uptrend and then bank those profi ts–without paying any tax–when the
market trend changed. And that is when it suddenly dawned on me what
a huge impact that would have in helping boost your annual compounded
returns. To top it all, instead of investing in single stocks, it would work
much better if you invested in investment funds which I believe are not
as risky as stocks but just as powerful.
So there you have it.
Th e key for me was to fi nd a proven system (CAN SLIM), master it,
start small and then when the time was right, to bet the ranch and use
as much leverage that I could get my hands on. Th e lesson here is, if you
know what you are doing, leverage can make you seriously wealthy.
As Archimedes famously said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum
on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”
