• Your two systems; one for helping you to fi nd funds and one for
helping you fi nd stocks; need to include rules and guidelines such
as selection, when to buy and when to sell.
• To help with creating your system to fi nd the best investment
funds, get extremely familiar with investment fund database
websites such as www.morningstar.co.uk and www.trustnet.
co.uk. Note: It was studying the funds listed on Morningstar
that helped me to develop HIRE CAR. HIRE CAR is far
from a perfect system and everything can be improved. If a school
thicko like me, with a grade F in maths, can create a system for
fi nding funds, then so can you.
• Remember that the most important thing when fi nding a winning
fund is the fund manager. Th e manager’s past performance is
everything.
• To help with becoming highly profi cient in reading the trend of
the market, include in your plan reading Chapter 7 in this book
over and over again. To help with objectives 1 and 3, read all the
books William O’Neil has written and all the books O’Neil has
read. 102 He mentions all the books he has read in his own books
and audio programs. Do this at your own pace. To help with
this task, I have highlighted them in bold in the recommended
reading section in Appendix B, which can be found at the back
of this book.
• With your stock trading, set up an account that allows you to
trade US stocks and at low trading charges (for example, $10 per
