Of course at this point I was totally sold on the timing system. It had
not only caught the beginning of every bull market in the last 50 years,
it had also helped my brother Paul and I become offi cially Financially
Independent. 46
Did I Stop Investing to Build a Business?
You might be interested to know if I stopped investing after I hit the
magic million. Th e answer is no. As you may recall, the second half of
my plan was to help as many people as I could to realise their fi nancial
dreams–and the best way to do that would be through concentrating on
building a business.
Earl Nightingale, pioneer of the personal development industry once
said, “Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service.”
So Paul and I decided to put a lot of our wealth back into building a
business to be proud of.
But there was no way that I was going to stop trading. So as we built
the business, I also continued to invest. In 2004 I made some decent
profi ts on a couple of trades. One was a company called Silicon Image
Inc ( Ticker symbol - SIMG) where I made a quick profi t of 24.5% in
just two weeks. I also bought the Internet exchange traded fund (Ticker
symbol - HHH) and made 30.5% over a six week period.
2005 was a good year that spawned a few winners. Google Inc (Ticker
symbol - GOOG) was bought in 2005 but sold in 2006. I made 129.4%
over a thirteen week period with that one.
Marvel the Marvellous
But my biggest winner of 2005 was a company called Marvel Technology
Group (Ticker symbol – MRVL) which, like Google, was bought in
2005 but sold in 2006. With Marvel, I made 155.6% in twelve weeks. I
called it Marvel the Marvellous.
