Joints for ductile iron pipe shall conform to the latest standard of ANSI/AWWA C111/A21.11<br />

for rubber gasket joints and ANSI/AWWA C115/A21.15 for threaded flanges.<br />

Cement-lined ductile iron pipe shall conform to the latest <strong>standards</strong> of ANSI/AWWA<br />

C104/A21.4<br />

DIP shall be required in the following circumstances:<br />

a) Water main 24 inches in diameter and larger.<br />

b) Within 10 feet horizontally of sewage facilities or pipes.<br />

c) Within 15 feet of buildings, canals or lakes.<br />

d) Crossings under sewage or storm pipes in accordance with Item 4<br />

of this Section.<br />

e) Crossings over sewage or storm pipes in accordance with Item 4<br />

of this Section.<br />

f) Carrier pipe for jack and bores (restrained joints).<br />

g) Aerial crossings.<br />

h) DIP may be mandated by the Department in any instance of off-site or on-site<br />

<strong>construction</strong> where future abuse to the line is possible due to location or<br />

circumstances, extensive length under pavement, or in private property away<br />

from <strong>County</strong> rights-of-way.<br />

7. Water Main - Size<br />

The Water Main (WM) shall be sized by the Developer's Engineer as required and as<br />

approved by the Department. The <strong>minimum</strong> size of WM shall normally be six (6”) inches.<br />

Four inch (4") mains may be proposed for non-fire lines serving discrete areas where<br />

additional development will not occur (i.e. cul-de-sacs). The Engineer may be required to<br />

demonstrate the adequacy of such sizing.<br />

Where fire flow is provided, all fire hydrants shall be placed on 8 inch (8”) <strong>minimum</strong> sized<br />

water mains or 6 inch (6”) <strong>minimum</strong> sized water mains where the mains are looped.<br />

Delivered flows should meet maximum day plus fire flow requirements as mandated by the<br />

<strong>County</strong> and <strong>Florida</strong> D.E.P. The residual pressure under fire flow conditions shall not be<br />

less than 20 psi.<br />
