so as to satisfy these requirements.<br />

Metering for bulk users (ie, golf courses) which require telemetry, shall conform to the<br />

requirements of paragraph 15 of this section.<br />

12. Locator for Reclaimed Water Pipe<br />

On all pipe <strong>construction</strong> 8 gauge, THWN insulated, stranded copper wire shall be laid and<br />

secured on top of pipe. Wire shall be continuous from valve box to valve box, wrapped two<br />

times around each joint of pipe and extended inside each valve box to enable location<br />

devices to be attached without digging up the valve box (see Standard Details).<br />

Service wire shall be laid in the trench with all services, connected to the main wire and<br />

wrapped around the service piping or tubing. Wire for reclaimed water shall be lavender in<br />

color.<br />

All wire connections shall be made with Dri-Splice wire connectors, Imperial Snip-Snap<br />

fittings filled with waterproof silicone sealant or approved equal. All splices shall be<br />

inspected by the Department before burial.<br />

13. Cleaning and Pigging<br />

After its installation, the complete water system (including all mains, services, blow-offs, air<br />

release valves and all other appurtenances) shall be thoroughly cleaned to remove all<br />

foreign matter. The Department shall be notified at least 48 hours in advance of any<br />

cleaning activities. Failure to provide advance notification of cleaning may result in the<br />

Contractor not being allowed to clean the mains. Water used for filling and cleaning shall be<br />

from an approved water source.<br />

Permanent pigging facilities are to be incorporated into all <strong>design</strong>s. Minimum distances<br />

need to be set.<br />

The cleaning of piping systems shall be accomplished by the controlled and pressurized<br />

passage through the system of a series of hydraulic or pneumatic polyurethane plugs (poly<br />

pigs). The poly pigs shall be entered into the system by the use of a pig launching<br />

assembly. The poly pigs shall be removed or discharged from the system at a point as near<br />

to the end of the system as is logistically and mechanically feasible. The contractor must<br />

demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Department that, this work will be performed by<br />

experienced and knowledgeable supervisors and personnel who have properly, safely and<br />

effectively provided for the cleaning of comparable systems in similar applications.<br />

14. Pressure Testing<br />

All mains shall be tested for leakage. Water shall be supplied to the main and pumped to<br />
