given in kg pr fire and is therefore divided by the average weight of a<br />

passenger car in 2009, <strong>to</strong> give a fac<strong>to</strong>r that is better comparable; the resulting<br />

emission fac<strong>to</strong>r is of 2.0 kg pr Mg.<br />

Persson et al. (1998) and Lönnermark et al. (2004) are the only available<br />

sources <strong>to</strong> SO2 emission fac<strong>to</strong>rs for vehicle fires. Since Lönnermark et al.<br />

(2004) is the more resent source and establishes its emission fac<strong>to</strong>rs on<br />

experimental data, this is chosen as the best reliable source.<br />

Persson et al. (1998) and Lemieux et al. (2004) delivers very similar<br />

emission fac<strong>to</strong>rs for NOx, the more resent Lemieux et al. (2004) is chosen<br />

as the most reliable.<br />

<strong>Emission</strong> fac<strong>to</strong>rs for CO are available from the same two sources and<br />

from Lönnermark et al. (2004); in this case Lönnermark et al. (2004) and<br />

Lemieux et al. (2004) deliver the same fac<strong>to</strong>r. Lönnermark et al. (2004) is<br />

chosen as the best available source since it is based on experimental<br />

data.<br />

No data was available for Hg, Se, HCB and PCB. NH3 is assumed not <strong>to</strong><br />

be emitted.<br />

The dioxin emission is given in I-TEQ; i.e. International Toxicity<br />

Equivalents, which is a weighted addition of congener <strong>to</strong>xicity with reference<br />

<strong>to</strong> 2,3,7,8-TCDD (Seveso-dioxin).<br />
