"Rotundo on Racing Pigeons"
by Joseph Rotundo. "...once (Rotundo) had discovered
or perfected a certain concept that would
have been more than adequate for the majority of
people, he did not rest. He was constantly trying
to improve on whatever it was that he was involved
with at that moment. Pigeon breeding and
racing was the primary area in which he loved to
practice this philosophy". A classic book, nothing
like it in the United States. This book is a must
"The New Winning"
Jim and Wanda Wiley are famous for their young
bird racing and their Wileyway Janssens. Jim also
wrote a series of articles for various pigeon magazines.
These articles are so popular that they
were complied into book form. The original book,
"Winning" was completely sold out. This new
book, "New Winning" is destined to be another
pigeon flyers best seller. Information discussed
includes pigeon arithmetic, the loft, the birds,
breeding and developing a family, young and old
bird racing, developing a champion, wintering and
more! 96 page expanded version.
"Pigeon Racing Analytics: Winning With Data"
Racing Pigeon Analytics: Winning With Data” utilizes 13
years of data collection, analysis and testing to show
the serious racing homer enthusiast how to use hard
data instead of guesswork and questionable theories for
breeding, managing and selecting your racers. If you’re
tired of trying to improve your race results with the latest,
newest and ever more expensive “miracle” drugs
and ready to actually upgrade the genetic quality of your
pigeons as well as your techniques for handling them, you owe it to
yourself to read this book. The author has raised and flown performance
pigeons (racers and rollers) for 46 years. He was the publisher
of “The Roller Journal” for 20 years, World of Wings board member
from 2007-2010, was selected by his peers for the National Birmingham
Roller Club’s Hall of Fame, is the author of America’s No. 1 roller
book (“Flying the Birmingham Roller”) and has served numerous times
in various capacities in a number of local, regional and national pigeon
clubs. Most pertinent for this book, Dave Gehrke doesn’t fly pigeons
by the seat of his pants, the whim of the moment, the current trend or
the latest drug regimen. He races with data. Paper Back. 156 Pages.
#9053 "Pigeon Racing Analytics: Winning with Data" $40.00
"The Search For Those Fabulous Whittinghams" (Rollers)
This is actually a set of two booklets, totaling over 300 pages. This
was a home publishing project so be aware the booklets are not professionally
done. This is an archival project to preserve elements of
the Birmingham Roller history in the United States and Canada. These
two booklets are an attempt to replace a scrapbook stolen from the
United Roller Club in 1937. Both authors Steve Roth and Joe Quinn
have maintained private collections of letters, bulletins, articles and
personal correspondance. Both authors feared that their collection
would be lost on their demise, so they produced these booklets of
Rollers in the mid 1800's. In the fall of 1947 Bill Pensom came to this
country and brought along some of his best Rollers which were a mix
of the Whittinghams. If you are a flying Roller/breeder, these books will
offer an insight to the history of Rollers and make you a better informed
Roller flyer. Written by Steve Roth and Joe Quinn. 406 pages.
#823 "The Search For Those Fabulous Whittinghams"
#9005 "Breeding Better Rollers" $18.00
The Flying Birmingham Roller
Birmingham Rollers are a very unique performance breed.
What they do in the air is far different from performance of
other breeds of pigeons. The breeds unique ability and the
unanswered questions as to why they spin probably explains
why so few books have been written on Birmingham
Rollers despite the number of Roller enthusiast. Written
by Dave Gehrke who acquired his first Rollers in 1971. Dave and
his wife Rita are also editors of the publication "The Roller Journal".
"Flying the Birnmingham Roller" is a well written 236 page, soft cover
book 6" x 9". Chapters cover breeding, conditioning, flying and managing
for success, plus more. A great read and a great gift.
#9063 "The Flying Birmingham Roller" $30.00
"The Spin Masters"
by Tom Hatcher. If you want to succeed in Rollers, you must
pursue breeding in a scientific manner. Strains need several
years to fully develop. Success is not a matter of luck. If you
want to have yours spinning, this book will lead you in that
direction. 8 1/2" X 11", Soft Cover. 96 pages.
#897 "The Spin Masters" $18.00
