Furazolidon Plus<br />
Paratyphoid (Salmonella)<br />
has one of the highest<br />
mortality rates of any infectious<br />
bacterial disease of pigeons. Given<br />
the right conditions, the bacterium<br />
can remain infective in the<br />
environment for 1 year or more.<br />
As per Chevita, the maker of Furazolidone<br />
Plus, Salmonella is<br />
spread by: inhalation of dust containing the pathogen, contaminated<br />
feed (insects, mice, rats), dirty feeders and drinkers, mating, transmission<br />
from the hen to the egg, and feeding babies with infected crop<br />
milk. Chronic Carriers: Pigeons that appear healthy after surviving<br />
salmonella infection, but shed the pathogen at irregular intervals and<br />
thus pose a risk to the current flock and their young. Acute form<br />
(mainly effects adult pigeons) loose, greenish droppings, retardation<br />
of growth, loss of weight and in rare cases, death. Chronic form<br />
(mainly effects adult pigeons) inflammation causes a thickening of the<br />
leg or wing joint. This inflammation causes one wing to hang down<br />
or a bird to limp. The birds may have a problem with balance and<br />
a twisting of the neck. These symptoms do not always mean you<br />
have Paratyphoid (Salmonella) as other diseases may have the same<br />
symptoms. The Furazolidon Plus Powder is packed 12 envelopes to<br />
a box and dosage is 1 envelope to a 1/2 gallon of drinking water. So<br />
a box will make six gallons. Treat for 5 days, probiotics/vitamins for<br />
two days and repeat the Furazolidone Plus for another 3 to 5 days<br />
followed again by probiotics/vitamins for 2 days. The capsules come<br />
100 to a box and treatment is the same time frame as the powder.<br />

Loft Dressing<br />
Paratyphoid cannot survive in an acidic environment below<br />
a Ph of 4.5. This product will stop the transference of<br />
Paratyphoid through the droppings. If you use litter on<br />
your floor, apply this mixture at the rate of 2 lbs. per 100 square feet<br />
of floor (lasts 6 months). If you scrape daily, sift lightly after you clean.<br />

worms, you must clean the floor and perches the next day or<br />

Cox/Trimethroprim Powder by<br />

AvioCox Powder combines Sulphadimethoxine,<br />
the safest and most effective Sulphonamide,<br />
with the purest and most potent water soluble high dose<br />
Trimethoprim. Sulphadimethoxine is one of the newer,<br />
safer and more effective Sulphas that is ideal for the treatment<br />
and prevention of Coccidiosis. At the high dose inclusion of Trimethoprim<br />
found in this product, it has been proven to be very effective<br />
against Salmonella (Paratyphoid) and Ecoli. The combination of<br />
Trimethoprim and sulphas are well known to act synergistically to increase<br />
its spectrum against bacteria. AvioCox is thus highly suitable<br />
for the treatment of other bacteria especially those found in the respiratory<br />
system. AvioCox is the ideal product to use when treating<br />
"Young Bird Disease". AvioCox should be used once every eight<br />
weeks during racing or competition flying season as a preventative<br />
treatment against Coccidiosis. Breeding pigeons and babies should<br />
be treated every eight weeks preventively until molting season starts.<br />

20% for a minimum of 21 days. Effective treatment of Ornithosis,<br />
mycoplasmosis and respiratory infections. Remove grit during<br />
treatment. Follow with 2-3 days of probiotics. 1 Teaspoon per gallon,<br />
makes about 28 gallons.<br />
