SHIPPING BOXES
I SHIP HUNDREDS OF PIGEONS EVERY YEAR, and these are the boxes I use,
They are strong, well ventilated and easy to carry. I do tape the bottom edges
before I put the birds in the box. We are so lucky to be able to ship birds thru the
post office. I do not want to upset them by having shavings dust escaping thru
the bottom cracks. I also do not complain if they are supposed to be there in one
day and they take two days. I once had a shipment get lost and it took six days to
get to my customer, would you believe every bird arrived alive! No feed or water
for 6 days, arriving in two is absolutely not a problem.
CARING FOR BIRDS (THE DO'S AND DON'TS)
DO
• Feed and water birds prior to shipping.
• Place litter or bedding in the bottom of the box to collect moisture,
reduce odors, and provide a foothold.
• Call the recipient and give them the tracking number and expected
arrival date.
• Write the shipping address on the box in case shipping label
comes off.
• Add #295 Save-A-Chick to the drinking water 2-3 days before shipping.
DON'T
• Ship injured, ill or birds under unusual stress.
• Do not remove the white breathable membrane from over the vent
holes. The membrane protects your birds from airborne disease,
reduces excitability, stress, and is required by postal regulations.
• Do not ship birds in very hot or very cold weather conditions. It is
hotter in the box and extreme heat can be fatal to your birds.
IF IN DOUBT - DON'T SHIP.
• Do not over pack the box. To many birds in a box can cause
over-heating and stress which can be harmful or fatal.
• Do not ship birds over the weekend or holiday. They may become
stranded.
• DON'T MEDICATE WHEN SHIPPING BIRDS.

The smallest box Horizon makes. A bit
shorter height and includes a handle. Ideal

Economy Nest (4 Pigeons)
Most commonly called the 4 bird box for
pigeons, but also ideal for (2) ducks, (4)
pheasants, (4) Old English Bantams or (2) larger game birds.
Easily divides into either 1, 2 or 4 compartments. Extra
bottom strength and water resistant coating inside. 16" x 16" x 16" high.

Chick Box
This is the first shipping box that the manufacturer
specifically designed for shorter birds and smaller birds
such as a quail, canaries, finches, etc. Eventually, I am
sure, this box will be known as the best 50 baby chick
box in the world. Quail require the filters on the box, but if you are
shipping baby chick you should remove the filters. 15" x 9" x 7" tall.
Any chick over 72 hours old is considered an adult and requires a filter.

Omni Box (8 Pigeons)
Designed for just about anything that
needs more space than the economy
box. It is most commonly called the 8 bird box but don't
be fooled. It is ideal for ducks, pheasants, bantams and
the long tails that your show birds might need protected. Has eight
separate compartments, and can easily be partitioned with either 1, 2,
4 or 8 compartments. Uses heavier and stronger cardboard for additional
strength and is water resistant on the inside. 24" x 18" x 18" wide.

Large Box (10-14 Pigeons)
This is the largest shipping box the post
office will accept. You can assemble it
making (2) 16" x 16" compartments, or use the dividers
as additional support and make a huge single
compartment 32" x 16" x 16" high! Made from heavier cardboard for
extra strength and tested with a 40 lb. weight. Available with different
divider systems to suit your needs. Choose either 1-2 compartments.
Perfect for large water fowl such as swans or geese. It can hold up to
16 pigeons if complete isolation is not necessary. 32" x 16" x 16" tall.

Transport Carton
We have all experienced an unexpected
need for a carton to carry a few birds and
end up using an old card board box with a few holes
cut in it. Don't go to a show, auction, loft visit, or
race night without one of our well designed transport
cartons. One carton holds up to 3 birds and the other up to 6
birds. The 3 bird is 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 15 3/4" long and the 6 bird is 12
1/2" x 10" x 29 1/2" long. Always have one in your vehicle.

World War II Parachutist Pigeon Carton
These are the original cartons designed and
made for the military of World War II, which
makes them (over 78 years old.). They were
carried into battle, and also strapped to a paratrooper
who parachuted into enemy territory and used the pigeons to
send messages back to headquarters. They are in good condition ,
but a bit musty from 78 years of storage. 12” X 6 ¼” X 6 ¼”. Already
a sot after part of collectors and museums that have WW II memorabilia.
