14 PRICES FOY'S SUBJECT FANTASTIC TO CHANGE FLYERS 14 RARE COLOR RACING HOMERS The racing pigeon remains the single most popular breed of pigeons, and within the breed, many racing pigeons are enjoyed, not for their ability to compete in club races, but for the beautiful colors. At Foy’s we keep a loft just for rare color racing homers. The following colors are what I consider rare colors in my loft: Red Red Check Silver Grizzle Yellow Check Yellow Brown Splash * I also have colors I can’t describe, which are the result of breeding from the above colors. Please call for availability. * RARE COLOR RACING HOMERS #10019 1 Pair for $100.00 #10020 2 Pair for $175.00 #10021 4 Pair for $300.00 We do not keep the rare colors in stock for very long, so we are not able to breed from them. For this reason, we usually do not have young rare colors available. ROLLERS Rollers are the second most popular breed of pigeons, after Racing Homers. Our Rollers are top quality birds and will roll as promised. Rollers are acrobats of the pigeon hobby and it is a real blast to watch a kit of Rollers take off and get to gather as a group, At some signal, known only by the birds, they start tumbling to the ground, doing summersaults almost all the way to the down. At the end of their roll, they gather up again and fly back up to the height needed to roll down again. Rollers come in all different colors, but we do not necessarily have them for color, we have them for their ability to roll. We will try to send the colors you like, but can’t promise to send birds as lose to the colors you are looking for. Rollers are a small breed about half the size of Racing Homers, and a bit smaller than the wild birds you see on the streets or roof tops. Rollers are very active, bright eyed and just love to fly. They are easy to breed and great parents. Keep in mind that Rollers have little to no homing instinct, so you can purchase breeders and they will stay return to your loft. I would suggest you keep them in the loft for 3-4 weeks before releasing the new birds, and you need an outside landing area and a removable aviary. The aviary offers the birds the opportunity to enjoy being outside and also allows them to observe their surroundings before being released to fly. 15 SHIPPING COST - DROPPING PRICES SUBJECT ANALYSIS TO CHANGE - EXTERNAL PARASITES 15 All birds must be shipped through the post office, and require a post office approved box with a filter and viewing window. They must be shipped express mail and delivery is 1-2 days. We suggest you contact your local post office to make them aware that you are expecting a shipment. Pigeon Shipping Cost: 2 Pigeons $80.00 8 Pigeons $135.00 4 Pigeons $100.00 16 Pigeons $175.00 If you wish to place an order, we suggest you call Foy’s to be sure we have the colors you desire or to answer any questions about the birds. The shipping cost are not included in the cost of the pigeons, and shipping cost vary depending on the number of birds you order. We are required by the Post Office, to use postal approved boxes which contain multiple vent holes, secure bottoms and filters over all the vent holes. Pigeons take 1-2 days to reach their destination. DROPPING ANALYSIS We are quite pleased to offer a great new service to aid you in knowing more about the health of your flock of pigeons, poultry or cage birds. We have enlisted the help of an experienced veterinarian who will look at droppings that you have sent, and give you an idea as to what is wrong and what to do. You can not find all diseases in the droppings, but most common problems will show up. Droppings analysis will not find viruses, paratyphoid or other bacterial infections. It will find coccidiosis, worms, parasites, yeast infections and other problems. Here is what you have to do: Collect about a tablespoon of fresh droppings. This tablespoon can be a mix of your flock, or if you have problems in just one section of your loft, collect the Tablespoon from just that one or two sections. It should be a general sampling of a number of the birds. If you are concerned with just one bird, isolate the bird and collect just the dropping from that one bird, you will not get a tablespoon, but get as much as you can for overnight and the morning before mailing them. The surface, under the bird should not be anything that will absorb the urine, plastic or metal is best, under the bird. The droppings MUST BE AS FRESH AS POS- SIBLE when you send them. Do not collect them from newspaper or an absorbent surface, because the urine would be blotted up, and we need all of the droppings. If you are sending more than one sample, place each sample in a plastic zip lock bag. Mark each bag you send to us, with a number or an identification of some kind. This is important because we want to be able to refer to each bag. Put all the ziploc plastic bags in a padded envelope and mail them to Foy's. Padded envelopes are sold at a store such as Staples or the post office. If the samples are not in a ziploc bag and padded envelope, the droppings will be destroyed. We will call you with the results and a suggestion of treatment, and a written report will be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to you as well if desired. Include a check or money order, or you may call with your credit card number. D, New Brighton, PA 15066 Please call 724-843-6889 should you have any questions. EXTERNAL PARASITES Feather Lice. Small black lice can be seen on feathers, next to the center shaft. The lice cause no harm, but bother the pigeons. Lice are a sign that you need to keep a cleaner loft. Check your birds regularly and if you see the lice, treat by dipping or spraying. Secticide or bug spray is suggested but Permectrin II would also be a good choice. The Pigeon Fly is rather common, you will see it as it tries to hide in the feathers. Pigeons with the Pigeon Fly, will often stamp their feet and act restless. The Pigeon Fly travels from pigeon to pigeon. The fly may be a carrier of Malaria causing poor flying performance. Prevention includes cleaning nesting bowls and the loft regularly. If you have a compost pile, it should not be close to the loft. Keep strays out of the loft, and when introducing new birds, spray them while they are in quarantine. Do not let the droppings build up in the nest bowl, nest box or on the floor. In the Summer, spray all the pigeons in the loft every 8 weeks. Secticide is my first choice, Permectrin II is also a good choice, all with bug spray. Red Mite symptoms include restlessness during the evenings, a heavy infestation will cause anemia in babies, and in severe cases cause death in the babies. Your pigeons will also stamp their feet. The adult mite hides in the cracks and crevices in the loft, during the daylight. The mite moves onto the pigeon at night and feeds on the pigeons exposed skin, sucking blood. They breed in the loft, off the pigeons. If you want to check to see if you have them, place a cotton ball in the loft after dark. Examine the cotton ball after first light to see the small pin head sized red mites. Spraying the loft with Permectrin II is recommended as a preventative. If possible, apply Ekto/Endo to the back of the neck of all the pigeons, every 8 weeks. Ivermectin, to the back of the neck, will also reduce the infestation. Another excellent option is perch oil. Nasal and Tracheal Mite. The Nasal mite causes severe irritation in the nose with sneezing , shaking the head and persistent scratching at the nasal openings. The Trachael (Throat) mite may cause coughing, wheezing and a clicking sound especially in the evening when pigeons are at rest. The mite travels from pigeon to pigeon. Keep stray pigeons out of the loft. Canaries are carriers, keep them away from the loft. Treat all the pigeons in the loft with Ekto/Endo tablets and repeat in 10 days.
