The most visited place is still the capital Kuala<br />

Lumpur. But there, for sure, are plenty of other<br />

destinations which are well worth going.<br />

Much of modern Malaysia was British or Dutch, controlled<br />

in the 20 th century. And there is still a lot of<br />

their influences left in cities like George Town, Malacca<br />

and Ipoh, whereas the peninsula region is home<br />

to many fascinating old towns. On a journey to Malaysia,<br />

vistors shouldn't miss to make a stop in George<br />

Town in Penang which is located north of Kuala<br />

Lumpur. Travellers will find plenty of very good hotels<br />

in this area. One of these is the luxury hotel<br />

Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa which is about<br />

ten kilometres outside of the city George Town.<br />

The city itself is well known for the so called “Street<br />

Art“ with it's realistic paintings on the walls of houses<br />

and Street-Rod sculptures. And if one is interested in<br />

a wide variety of food, George Town is the place to go<br />

as well. Because of the fact that George Town is<br />

known to offer the best street food in Asia. And generally,<br />

tourists will enjoy the great variety in Malaysia's<br />

cuisine which can be found in just about every city<br />

and town in a wide range of local delicacies.<br />

Malaysia is also very well known for watersports.<br />

Excellent scuba diving and snorkeling spots dot the<br />

coast, islands like Perhentian, Tioman and Langkawi<br />

are perfect for relaxation. The easter states of Malaysia<br />

– which include Sabah and Sarawak – offer stunning<br />

islands und access to untouched rainforests.<br />

River cruises and rafting are popular activities in<br />

Borneo-Malaysia. If a guest prefers hiking – the right<br />

place is to go to Mount Kinabalu, with a height of<br />

4,095 metres the highest mountain between the Himalaja<br />

and New Guinea and where only 137 climbers<br />

per day are permitted.<br />

Pure nature offer many National Parks which are<br />

spread all over Malaysia. One of them is the National<br />
