Wille um ein paar Worte zur Präsidenten Suite in seinem Haus gebeten.
Vienna is a hub for international diplomats, a UN location and the setting for numerous key conferences. The city’s countless 5-star
hotels are guaranteed to fulfil the demands of the highest of dignitaries and state guests alike. Since March 2013, the Palais Hansen
Kempinski Vienna has been complementing the ranks of Vienna’s Ringstrasse hotels. Cercle Diplomatique sat down with General
Manager Florian Wille for a chat about the Presidential Suite at the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna.

Das Gebäude, das nun das Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna
beheimatet, kann ja auf eine lange und auch wechselhafte
Geschichte zurückblicken. Welche Funktion hatten die
Räumlichkeiten des Palais ursprünglich?
Das prachtvolle Haus wurde von Theophil Hansen im Stil der
Neorenaissance entworfen und für die Weltausstellung im Jahr
1873 als Hotel gebaut, eröffnete jedoch nie für Gäste. Bis Mitte
der 1990er Jahre beherbergte das Palais Hansen die Polizeidirek-tion
sowie verschiedene Ämter der Stadt Wien. Im März 2013
wurde es als Fünf-Sterne-Hotel Palais Hansen Kempinski eröffnet.
Wie würden Sie den Stil der Präsidenten Suite im Palais
Hansen Kempinski Vienna charakterisieren?
Die Präsidenten Suite ist die größte ihrer Art in der Stadt. Auf
320 m 2 bietet sie Platz für zwei Erwachsene und zwei Kinder mit
eleganten Räumlichkeiten: Ein geräumiges Schlafzimmer, ein
bequemes Wohnzimmer, ein Esszimmer, eine eigene Kitchenette
sowie einen Office Bereich mit Schreibtisch. Das Interieur der
Suite prägen dezente Farben, edle Stoffe und hochwertige
Materialien. Neben der Lounge Area mit begrünter Wand und dem
Piano ist auch das luxuriöse Badezimmer aus weißem und
schwarzem Marmor mit Blick über die Ringstraße ein weiteres
Highlight. Und sollte noch mehr Platz benötigt werden, kann die
Präsidenten Suite noch mit einem zusätzlichen Deluxe Zimmer
verbunden werden.
Sie haben Sie in den USA, der Schweiz, Großbritannien,
Deutschland, Ungarn, Bahrain, Katar, Jordanien und in der
Türkei gelebt und gearbeitet. Vor Kurzem haben Sie das
Haus als General Manager übernommen. Verraten Sie uns
Ihre ersten Pläne, die Sie umsetzen möchten?
Wien hat ja weltweit einen ganz tollen Ruf und ich freue mich wie
ein kleines Kind, dass ich heute hier arbeiten kann. Gerade erst
wurde das 26° EAST von Falstaff als „Beste Hotelbar des Jahres“
ausgezeichnet. Das Team um Bar Manager David Penker betreibt
die Bar mit Herz und Respekt vor dem Produkt und dem Gast. Ich
möchte auch verstärkt Familien ins Haus bringen, für Feiern jeder
Art und Größe. Alte Gemäuer verdienen junge Impulse. Ich sehe
es als meine Aufgabe, die Geschichte des Hauses auch für unsere
Gäste erlebbar zu machen. Zudem sollen hier neue Ecken
begehbar gemacht werden, mit abwechslungsreichen Nachmittagen
– etwa mit jungen Musikern, die in der Lobby ein Konzert
geben.
The building that today harbours the Palais Hansen
Kempinski Vienna has a long and multifarious history. What
was its original function?
Our magnificent building was designed by Theophil Hansen in the
Renaissance Revival style and built as a hotel for the 1873 Vienna
World’s Fair, though it never opened its doors to guests. Until the
middle of the 1990s, the building contained a police department
and various offices of Vienna’s City Government. In March 2013, it
reopened as the five-star Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna.
How would you characterise the style of the Presidential
Suite at the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna?
The Presidential Suite is the largest of its kind in the whole city.
Across an area of 320 m 2 , it offers more than enough space for two
adults and two children in very elegant rooms, including a spacious
bedroom, a comfortable living room, a dining room, a kitchenette
and an office area with desk. The interior of the suite is
characterised by discreet colours, exquisite textiles and high-end
materials throughout. Next to the lounge area with a green wall
and a piano, the luxurious bathroom made from white and black
marble with a view of the Vienna Ringstrasse is another highlight.
Should you require even more space, the Presidential Suite is easily
connected with an additional Deluxe Room.
You have lived and worked in the USA, Switzerland, Great
Britain, Germany, Hungary, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and
Turkey. Recently, you assumed the position of general
manager of the hotel. Can you tell us about your initial plans
that you intend to implement?
Vienna enjoys an excellent reputation around the world and I’m as
excited as a little child that I now get to work here. Just recently,
26° EAST was honoured as the “Best Hotel Bar of the Year” by
Falstaff. The team around bar manager David Penker runs the bar
with passion and respect for the product and the guests.
Old walls deserve young impulses. I consider it my main task to
make the building’s history come alive for our guests. And I also
want new parts of the hotel to become more accessible and offer
interesting afternoons with young musicians, who could, for
example, give concerts in the lobby.
