Women’s place and importance in the MICE industry is
very significant. We are used to and proud to see and
follow successful women in founders of leading event companies
and C class managers. In the same manner, we can
say that there is a matriarchal structure within the managers
of hotels, congress centers and medical companies. However,
it is really hard to say the same thing for technology and science
areas. There aren’t a lot of women working in the field
of audiovisual and technical support companies. Likewise,
the number of women software developers is really low in IT
companies. Global statistics support this situation. In OECD
countries, the ratio of women software developers is 20 percent,
but the same ratio is 9.9 percent in our country. In Europe,
women only compose 16.7 percent of the IT specialists.
The employment fears in our country directly affect the way
women choose their fields in college. Only 15 out of 100 software
developers are women. Of course, the situation is not
always this negative. We have national IT companies which
have women developers and technical personnel within.
LookUs Scientific, which has been in this industry for the
last 20 years, is one of those companies. We spoke about this

We are a technology
and software company.
We develop
online solutions for
academic society
and MICE industry.
As you can see in
our office, most of
our employees are
women and they
work in the technical
part of the company.
Our friends in
there do analysis,
develop codes, design
and make them
into a product. They
are not any different
than a man when it

When a man is under
stress during work, a

stress because of the

don’t have any positive
discrimination
here. However, we
don’t say that “women
cannot be software
developers”. In
our company, talent
and sacrifice counts.

before. Technology

within my job. There is
always this prejudice:
women should deal
with office work, sales
and marketing and
men should do the
real job… However, I
think this perspective
changes when we provide
opportunities.
