The action was monitored by the Discovery
Channel team, which recorded the backstage of
the police operation at the largest airport in Latin
America, with the aim of producing a documentary
showing how a mega-operation works against the
illegal trade in the region, involving the sale of food
and drugs.
Civil Guard promotes Safe
Neighborhood Operation
Intensify patrolling, through rounds, on varied days
and times in different neighborhoods of the city, in order
to promote greater security for the population. This is
the reason why the Secretariat for Public Security
Affairs created Operation Safe Neighborhood, which
began operations in early September 2017 and has
already served neighborhoods such as Jardim Aracília,
Parque Continental II and Jardim Fortaleza, as well
as the central area of the city.
The operations were carried out by the Municipal
Civil Guard, mobilizing 25 professionals from the
staff of the specialized units. In the first month, 50
motorcycles and 25 vehicles were approached, resulting
in the seizure of a motorcycle and a car, as well as
a person detained for drug trafficking in Jardim
Fortaleza. The “Safe Neighborhood Operation” is
conducted weekly and the routes are based on the
analysis of criminal indexes.
