Guarulhos returns to the Open
Games after 4 years
Sports Initiation Program
The Sports Initiation Program aims to promote
the development of children and young people in
the age group of 7 to 17 years. The program offers
classes in: athletics, basketball, ballet, dance, futsal,
artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, handball, jazz,
judo, karate and volleyball. Classes are available in
28 sports centers in the city and citizens can check
the schedule on the city hall’s website.
Meet Guarulhos’ parks
After four years without participating in the
Countryside Open Games, Guarulhos is back in the
traditional competition, which is in its 81st edition
that took place in November 2017. One hundred and
ninety counties participated in the Games, which this
year was held in the cities of São Paulo Bernardo, São
Caetano, Santo André, Mauá and Ribeirão Pires.
Guarulhos goes to the Open Games in eight modalities,
and 12 categories, which are: male and female athletics,
male and female boxing, male and female cycling,
female handball, female artistic gymnastics, female
rhythmic gymnastics, male and female kickboxing and
male karate. Guarulhos’ team will have about 170
people among athletes, technical staff, and teachers
responsible for logistics.
