Record Turnout for Half Marathon Event
On 30th June we were delighted
to present trophies at the Seaford
Martello Rotary Half Marathon.
The event was raising money for the British Heart
Foundation (BHF), and as part of our community
work we sponsored the trophies handed out to
the first three placed runners in the men and
women’s section.
First place and first male to finish was Andrew
Donno in 1hr 23 minutes 35 seconds and first
lady was Rachel Burgess of Arena 80 Athletics
Club in 1hr 47mins 13 seconds. 150 runners
registered and the weather was perfect for
the event.
Andrew was there to soak up the atmosphere
(and the sun) and to present the well-earned
awards.
He said: “It was great to see so many familiar
faces taking part and doing so well. From what I
heard it was a challenging, yet beautiful course.”
The Rotary club of Seaford Martello to-date has
raised £3,500 for the BHF through organising this
event and once all the money is counted from the
2019 event they hope this will exceed the £5,000
mark. A fantastic achievement.
It’s been a busy month for us in terms of our
community support. We’ve committed to an
exciting project being taken on by students at
Seaford Head School – there will be more on this
in our column in September’s Seaford Scene.
We’ve also helped to support a children’s book
from a local author – you can read more about
that on page 132 of this issue of Seaford Scene.
Thanks for reading,
Andrew and Stephen
PS: If you are curious about the valuation of your
home in the current property market please get
in touch to organise a free, no obligation valuation
