The mission of this readaptation centre is to offer adaptation, readaptation and social integration services to persons who, by
reason of their intellectual disability, require such services, as well as persons to accompany them, and support services for their
families and friends. To that end, it shall ensure that the person's needs are assessed and that required services are offered to
them within their facilities or within the person’s own environment, at school, at work, at home. In this regard, this rehabilitation
centre encourages, facilitates, and promotes the participation of persons with intellectual disability in the daily social life of their
community.This establishment is affliated to the Montreal WHO Collaborating Center for research and training in mental health at
the Douglas Hopital Institut in Mental Health

Paul Young is the past-Chair of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD), one of the founding member of People First
of Nova Scotia and a founding member and past president of People First of Canada. In 1998, he created his own consulting
business – Young and Associates – and is known internationally as a respected and gifted motivational speaker. He was a keynote
speaker at the WHO co-sponsored 2nd International Conference on Intellectual Disabilities in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2007.
