It is always exciting to see how iconic
labels have evolved to reflect the times, yet
maintained age-old traditions in the making
of their spirits.
Here’s a glance at some of their unique
selections as 2020 draws to a close.
Master’s Touch
The iconic Hennessy X.O decanter has been given a
special makeover to mark its 150 th anniversary. Worldrenowned
architect Frank Gehry has reinterpreted the
bottle in gold and glass in a unique collaboration with
the Hennessy Maison.
While designing the bottle, he took into account
the rich customs, composition and art of distillation
of Hennessy X.O as well as Hennessy Maison’s rich
heritage.
The decanter is enveloped in a crinkled sleeve
of 24-carat gold-dipped bronze and encased by a
fractured glass glorifier, evoking the movement of
water as it reflects the light.
As a finishing touch, Gehry has added an
understated fusil made of brass and gold for
extracting the cognac. The collectible set of decanter,
glorifier and fusil is packaged in a protective case
made of compressed cardboard – homage to a series
of corrugated cardboard furniture Gehry designed in
the 1970s – imprinted with Gehry’s signature.
Only a limited run of 150 numbered decanters
with Gehry’s signature is available. A wider release of
limited-edition Hennessy X.O bottles also by Gehry is
available in markets worldwide.
