EDITOR’S NOTE
A Better
Tomorrow
Wow, what a year it’s been.
If nothing else, 2020
will certainly go down in
history books as the most
“memorable” - marked by
that unforgettable pandemic
known as COVID-19 and political instability in Malaysia
and elsewhere, from Thailand to the United States.
But despite all of that, we remain optimistic that
brighter times are ahead. And we want to end the year
on a positive note. Hence, we bring to you The Festive
Issue this month. Throughout these pages, we hope to
inspire you to celebrate the good things in life, to have
hope for a better future.
Desmond Tutu once said: “Hope is being able to
see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” And we
could not agree more. In our Health & Wellness section,
we talk to renowned wellness personality Jojo Struys who
urges us to stay positive and embrace the challenges in
these uncertain times.
In The Art section, we pay tribute to the
people behind The Actors Studio. Founders Dato’
Dr Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham have time and
again demonstrated their commitment to contribute
to the performing arts sector in Malaysia, despite the
pandemic almost knocking the wind out of their sails.
We also highlight Penang-based artist Tiffany
Choong who strives to bring joy and shine light on
important topics through her artwork. Our cover
subject Ken Lim - the founder and namesake of Kens
Apothecary - opens up about finding contentment
amidst life’s challenges.
In our fashion pages, we shot a spread (at Edelweiss
SOFO & Serviced Residences in Tropicana Gardens)
that is all about dressing up to celebrate, even if it’s for
an intimate shindig at home. And if you’re looking for
a Christmas present to cheer up a loved one, we have
compiled a list of gift ideas for your perusal.
So, yes, we are hopeful about the year ahead, of it
being a better tomorrow. Let’s work together to make
2021 a better year, one that will be remembered for all
the right reasons.
