The lower right quadrant indicates a «peculiar» priority of the<br />

1 st cycle, i.e. the <strong>de</strong>velopment of a «general culture in physics». This<br />

indication is quite un<strong>de</strong>rstandable in itself, since the graduate might<br />

then directly go to the job market, without further contacts with the<br />

university.<br />

On the other end the upper left quadrant indicates «peculiar»<br />

priorities of the 2 nd cycle. Such a peculiarity is reinforced by the high<br />

gap, which is exhibited by the involved competences (see Table 4) and<br />

which shows that the <strong>de</strong>velopment of these competences is mainly a<br />

task for the second cycle.<br />

<strong>Final</strong>ly the lower left quadrant hosts those 9 competences, which<br />

are rated below the average in both cycles, thus enjoying a low<br />

priority in the Aca<strong>de</strong>mics perception. They seem to be «minor» or<br />

«complementary» competences, rather than «basic» ones. In section<br />
