dem<strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong> NPIC is in the field <strong>of</strong> nuclear<br />
design & safety, which is its research focus.<br />

Nuclear <strong>and</strong> Radiation Safety Center<br />
(NSC) has the same number <strong>of</strong> dem<strong>and</strong>s<br />
as NPIC. On behalf <strong>of</strong> the Chinese government,<br />
it conducts research on various<br />
aspects <strong>of</strong> nuclear energy from a regulatory<br />
perspective viewpoint.<br />

CGN - China Nuclear Power Engineering<br />
Co., Ltd. (CGN-CNPE) focuses on the<br />
construction <strong>of</strong> NPP projects <strong>and</strong> has advanced<br />
overall contracting capabilities.<br />
It has rich experience in the construction<br />
<strong>of</strong> Daya Bay NPP <strong>and</strong> Ling Ao NPP (M310<br />
reactor). According to F i g u r e 6 , CGN-<br />
CNPE has the dem<strong>and</strong> in the fields <strong>of</strong> nuclear<br />
design & safety <strong>and</strong> operation &<br />
evaluation.<br />

Research Institute <strong>of</strong> Nuclear Power Operation<br />
(RINPO), as its name suggests, is<br />
currently the only institute in China that<br />
focuses on NPP operation research <strong>and</strong><br />
technical services. Its main technologies<br />
include non-destructive testing, NPP<br />
simulation, nuclear steam generator<br />
(SG) related technology. Obviously, the<br />
dem<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> RINPO are in the field <strong>of</strong> operation<br />
& evaluation.<br />

Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation<br />
(JNPC) focuses on WWER nuclear power<br />
technology. Its business scope includes<br />
nuclear power plant construction, operation<br />
management, equipment import<br />
<strong>and</strong> maintenance, etc. Hence, the dem<strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>for</strong> JNPC is in the fields <strong>of</strong> operation<br />
& evaluation <strong>and</strong> equipment.<br />

Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research<br />
& Design Institute Co., Ltd (SNERDI) has<br />
designed the first NPP in China – Qinshan<br />
NPP. Currently, it focuses on the<br />
technology import <strong>of</strong> AP series NPP. Its<br />
dem<strong>and</strong> is mainly in the fields <strong>of</strong> nuclear<br />
design & safety <strong>and</strong> equipment.<br />

Nuclear Power Operations Management<br />
Co., Ltd. (CNNO) currently has the largest<br />
number <strong>of</strong> NPPs in operation in China,<br />
with different reactor types <strong>and</strong> the<br />
largest nuclear power capacity. It focuses<br />
on the dem<strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong> operation & evaluation<br />
<strong>and</strong> equipment.<br />

State Power Investment Corporation Research<br />
Institute Co., Ltd. (SPICRI) focuses<br />
on the test facilities design, operation<br />
<strong>and</strong> analysis <strong>for</strong> nuclear safety, <strong>and</strong> the<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware development <strong>for</strong> nuclear design.<br />
It was responsible <strong>for</strong> the CAP1400<br />
safety facilities <strong>and</strong> tests, <strong>and</strong> the s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />
development. Hence, its dem<strong>and</strong> is<br />
in the field <strong>of</strong> nuclear design & safety.<br />

Beijing Research Institute <strong>of</strong> Chemical<br />
Engineering <strong>and</strong> Metallurgy (BRICEM)<br />
focused on Uranium mining, beneficiation<br />
<strong>and</strong> smelting using chemical methods.<br />

China Nuclear Power Operations Co.,<br />
Ltd. (CNPO) focuses on the NPP operation<br />
management (including in<strong>for</strong>matization)<br />
<strong>and</strong> technical services, equipment<br />
import, R&D, maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair,<br />
etc. Its dem<strong>and</strong> is in the fields <strong>of</strong><br />
operation & evaluation <strong>and</strong> equipment.<br />
In order to clarify the dem<strong>and</strong> in detail, as<br />
a summary, Ta b l e 3 shows the detailed<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>of</strong> the technology topic <strong>of</strong> each<br />
subsidiary, which can be within the potential<br />
international cooperation in the near<br />
future.<br />
3 Concluding remarks <strong>and</strong><br />
recommendation<br />
China has the largest number <strong>of</strong> NPP units<br />
under construction or planned in the<br />
world, which shows the promising potential<br />
business opportunities <strong>of</strong> its nuclear<br />
power market. Simultaneously, it has a<br />
complete nuclear industry chain with hundreds<br />
<strong>of</strong> related companies / organizations.<br />
The problem is how to clarify the possible<br />
dem<strong>and</strong> in traditional sub-fields <strong>of</strong> nuclear<br />
power technology <strong>and</strong> different subsidiaries<br />
<strong>for</strong> cooperation. Due to the huge work <strong>of</strong><br />
one-by-one dem<strong>and</strong> analysis <strong>and</strong> the uncertainty<br />
<strong>of</strong> the academic research level evaluation<br />
<strong>of</strong> the subsidiaries from different or-<br />
