stAtistiCs And PRobAbility<br />

Courses in statistics and probability (designated STAT) may<br />

be applied as appropriate, for example, toward:<br />

G the statistics requirement for a variety of majors and<br />

minors;<br />

G a Certificate in Mathematics; and<br />

G electives.<br />

stAt 200 introduction to statistics (3)<br />

Prerequisite: MATH 103 or MATH 107. An introduction<br />

to statistics. Topics include descriptive statistics, methods of<br />

sampling, tables, graphs, percentiles, concepts of probability,<br />

normal and chi-square distributions, sampling distributions,<br />

confidence intervals, hypothesis testing of one and two means,<br />

proportions, binomial experiments, sample size calculations,<br />

correlation, and regression. Applications in business, social<br />

sciences, and other fields are discussed. Students may receive<br />

credit for only one of the following courses: BEHS 202,<br />

BEHS 302, BMGT 230, ECON 321, GNST 201,<br />

MATH 111, MGMT 316, PSYC 200, SOCY 201,<br />

STAT 200, STAT 225, or STAT 230.<br />

stAt 230 business statistics (3)<br />

(Formerly BMGT 230.) Prerequisite: MATH 103 or<br />

MATH 107. An introduction to the essential concepts of<br />

statistics for business and management. Concepts reviewed<br />

include descriptive statistics, probability theory, discrete<br />

and continuous probability distributions, sampling theory,<br />

estimation, hypothesis testing, regression and decision<br />

theory. Discussion also covers the application of these<br />

concepts to solving problems in business and management.<br />

Student may receive credit for only one of the following<br />

courses: BEHS 202, BEHS 302, BMGT 230, ECON 321,<br />

GNST 201, MGMT 316, PSYC 200, SOCY 201, STAT 200,<br />

STAT 225, or STAT 230.<br />

An introduction to the people of the theatre: actors, directors,<br />

designers, and backstage personnel. Topics include the core<br />

and characteristics of a script, theatrical forms and styles, and<br />

theatre history. Students may receive credit for only one of the<br />

following courses: HUMN 110 or THET 110.<br />

Courses in women’s studies (designated WMST) may be<br />

G a minor in women’s studies; and<br />

Wmst 200 introduction to Women’s studies: Women and<br />

society (3)<br />

(Fulfills the general education requirement in behavioral and<br />

social sciences.) An interdisciplinary study of the status, roles,<br />

and experiences of women in contemporary society. Sources<br />

from a variety of fields (such as literature, psychology, history,<br />

and anthropology) focus on writings by women.
