Students receiving education benefits under the G.I. Bill<br />
(Chapter 30) should be able to verify their monthly<br />
enrollments for payment online via the Web Automated<br />
Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) at www.gibill.va.gov<br />
within 6-8 weeks of certification.<br />
VA students who withdraw from courses are subject to having<br />
the amount of their award recalculated by the VA and may be<br />
required to repay any unauthorized amounts received.<br />
studEnt REsPonsibilitiEs<br />
Students receiving VA benefits are expected to follow all<br />
regulations and procedures of the Department of Veterans<br />
Affairs while attending <strong>UMUC</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>. At <strong>UMUC</strong>, all<br />
regulations of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs<br />
are enforced. Students should be aware of the following<br />
requirements:<br />
G VA students are expected to make satisfactory progress<br />
toward a degree or certificate; everyone must comply with<br />
the academic standards of <strong>UMUC</strong> <strong>Europe</strong><br />
G VA students must report all changes in enrollment,<br />
including drops, adds, withdrawals, and changes to audit.<br />
Such actions may affect payments to the student or lead<br />
to a requirement that she/he repay the VA monies already<br />
received<br />
G VA students must report all changes to their degree<br />
program or official evaluation by submitting DVA form<br />
22-1995 (Request for Change of Program or Place of<br />
Training) to the <strong>UMUC</strong> <strong>Europe</strong> VA Office in Heidelberg<br />
G Registering for a course and then not attending, or ceasing<br />
to attend without officially withdrawing, is a misuse of<br />
federal funds that is punishable by law<br />
G Payment of benefits will be disallowed for repeating a<br />
course for which transfer credit has been rated or for<br />
which a grade that meets minimum requirements for the<br />
degree has been earned<br />
G Payment of benefits will be disallowed for any course that<br />
is not a requirement in a student’s degree or certificate<br />
program<br />
G Each student must keep in close contact with the Office<br />
of Evaluations in Heidelberg to ensure his or her official<br />
evaluation is completed within the VA’s mandated twoterm<br />
period<br />

G VA regulations require that all VA students<br />
declare a major field of study and have an official<br />
evaluation of all prior academic coursework and<br />
military training.<br />
G VA students must have an official evaluation<br />
completed within two terms of their first VA<br />
enrollment with <strong>UMUC</strong> <strong>Europe</strong> to continue<br />
receiving VA benefits.<br />
G VA students may apply for an official evaluation<br />
when they register for their first course with<br />
<strong>UMUC</strong>.<br />
G Official evaluations are described in the Academic<br />
Advisement section of this Catalog.<br />
G The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) may<br />
seek reimbursement of benefits paid from a student<br />
who has received benefits for enrollments after<br />
two terms without having received an official<br />
evaluation.<br />
G All courses certified to the VA must apply to the<br />
degree program on file.<br />
