Ibtisam Alasfour is an Impressionist realist
Kuwaiti artist who has made a name for
herself in the Kuwaiti art scene. She is a
member of the Free Art Atelier in Kuwait
as well as the Kuwait Heritage Society. Ibtisam
has had a passion for drawing since
childhood and was one of the best students
in her drawing classes. Her teacher, Artist
Samya Sayed Omer, encouraged her to pursue
her talent.
Ibtisam decided to further improve her
skills and joined one of the formative institutions
in Kuwait. She attended many
workshops and practiced drawing using
oil colors for 12 years. As a result, her work
has a unique style that sets her apart from
other artists. Ibtisam draws inspiration from
Kuwaiti heritage and lifestyle, including traditional
Kuwaiti attire, costumes, historical
buildings, and late and current Kuwaiti figures
such as rulers, poets, and singers.
Ibtisam has organized several exhibits
and has had three personal exhibits, including
“Kuwaiti Days” in 2018, “The Voice Memory”
in 2019, and “Here Is Kuwait” in 2023.
She has organized exhibits such as “Formative
Effects and Angles” on Failka Island,
“Historical Buildings in Kuwait” at Dixon
House in 2020, and “Kuwait is Our Home,” in
2020. In collaboration with the National Assembly
of Culture, Art, and Letters, Ibtisam
organized a virtual historical and architectural
exhibit in 2020. In February 2021, she
collaborated with Almubarakiya Company
for the “Almubarakiya: Formative Art Vision”
exhibit, where she won first place. Her
paintings of Kuwaiti folklore were used in the
Commercial Bank of Kuwaiti (Altijari) calendar
in 2021 and the Kuwait Heritage Society
calendar in 2022.
Overall, Ibtisam Alasfour is a talented
Kuwaiti artist who draws inspiration from
Kuwaiti heritage and culture. Her work has
been recognized through personal exhibits
and collaborations with various organizations.
Her unique style and passion for drawing
make her a notable artist in the Kuwaiti
art scene.
