Explor<strong>in</strong>g human emotions and<br />
environmental issues through art,<br />
meet Emirati artist Rashid Al Mulla<br />

Rashid Al Mulla is an Emirati artist<br />
known for his skill <strong>in</strong> portrait and<br />
environmental art. He was born and<br />
raised <strong>in</strong> Sharjah and currently resides<br />
<strong>in</strong> Dubai. His portraits are notable for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
ability to convey human emotions, while his<br />
environmental pieces aim to raise awareness<br />
on important issues such as water scarcity,<br />
deforestation, and animal cruelty.<br />
Rashid’s work has been featured <strong>in</strong> various<br />
galleries and events, and is <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> both<br />
private and public collections throughout <strong>the</strong><br />
UAE. Notable events where his work has been<br />
exhibited <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> Sikka Art Fair, <strong>the</strong> Annual<br />
Exhibition <strong>in</strong> Sharjah, and <strong>the</strong> Faike exhibitions<br />
at FN design <strong>in</strong> Dubai.<br />
In 2019, Rashid was commissioned by The<br />
Cultural Office of Sheikha Manal B<strong>in</strong>t Mohammad<br />
Al Maktoum, along with n<strong>in</strong>e o<strong>the</strong>r artists, to<br />
create a 140-meter-long mural. He has also<br />
created live art pieces at events such as <strong>the</strong><br />
Sikka Art and Design Festival <strong>in</strong> 2016, Arab<br />
Travel Market, and Mirdif City Center for <strong>the</strong><br />
M<strong>in</strong>istry of Culture.<br />
In his latest exhibition at <strong>the</strong> Sikka Art and<br />
Design Festival <strong>in</strong> <strong>2023</strong>, Rashid showcased<br />
a collection of digital art on canvas, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
“Count<strong>in</strong>g Stars,” “Ocean Protector,” and “Don’t<br />
Be Fooled.” His collection is imbued with hidden<br />
messages and symbols, which he hopes will<br />
guide viewers towards fulfill<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>ir personal<br />
missions.<br />
