of <strong>the</strong> material world<br />

Yunchul Kim is a South Korean artist and<br />
electroacoustic music composer who<br />
has ga<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>ternational recognition<br />
for his work that explores <strong>the</strong> concept<br />
of “material” and its potential tendencies. His<br />
art embodies a world before human cultures<br />
or language, where humans, non-humans,<br />
mach<strong>in</strong>es, materials, and substances<br />
are considered equal. Kim’s works have<br />
been presented by renowned <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
organizations, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g CCCB, FACT, Ars<br />
Electronica, and <strong>the</strong> Frankfurt Museum of Art.<br />
He has received various awards, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> Collide Award from CERN and <strong>the</strong> VIDA<br />
15.0 Third Prize. Kim is a transdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary<br />
artist who works <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>stallations, draw<strong>in</strong>gs,<br />
sound, texts, and o<strong>the</strong>r media. He <strong>in</strong>tegrates<br />
science, technology, music, philosophy, and<br />
poetry <strong>in</strong>to his practice, unravel<strong>in</strong>g a universe<br />
of mattereal entanglements. Kim is currently<br />
based <strong>in</strong> Seoul, Korea, and has been a chief<br />
researcher of <strong>the</strong> research group Mattereality<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Transdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary Research Program at<br />
<strong>the</strong> Korea Institute for Advanced Study. He is<br />
also a member of <strong>the</strong> art and science project<br />
group Fluid Skies and <strong>the</strong> artistic research<br />
project Liquid Th<strong>in</strong>gs at <strong>the</strong> Art and Science<br />
Department of <strong>the</strong> University of Applied Arts,<br />
Vienna, Austria.<br />
Yunchul’s artwork, “The Dust of Suns<br />
II,” has caught <strong>the</strong> public eye with its<br />
recent participation <strong>in</strong> Art Dubai <strong>2023</strong>,<br />
where it stood out as one of <strong>the</strong> most<br />
dist<strong>in</strong>guished pieces on display. The<br />
artwork showcases Yunchul’s mastery<br />
of his craft and <strong>in</strong>novative approach to<br />
art, fur<strong>the</strong>r solidify<strong>in</strong>g his position as a<br />
prom<strong>in</strong>ent artist <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> contemporary art<br />
