Gold Screens and Oriental beauty<br />

Dubai-based artist Maggie has been<br />
fond of Oriental art s<strong>in</strong>ce childhood,<br />
she was fasc<strong>in</strong>ated by Byobu<br />
(w<strong>in</strong>d walls), hand-pa<strong>in</strong>ted Antique<br />
Japanese Gold Screens, which were used In<br />
Japan to separate <strong>in</strong>terior spaces and provide<br />
privacy with<strong>in</strong> a section of a room. Inspired<br />
by <strong>the</strong> beauty and <strong>the</strong> elegance of <strong>the</strong>se<br />
antique, yet timeless<br />
panels,<br />
she created a<br />
series<br />
of artworks<br />
“Artefact by<br />
Maggie”, a<br />
bridge<br />
between<br />
eastern and<br />
western<br />
cultures, a glimpse of oriental beauty through her<br />
eyes. Passionately sympa<strong>the</strong>tic towards animals,<br />
Maggie often pa<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>the</strong>m along with jungle and<br />
floral motifs. Her pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g style rema<strong>in</strong>s more or<br />
less <strong>the</strong> same throughout her life, she creates<br />
detailed compositions, featur<strong>in</strong>g animals, birds<br />
and magical creatures <strong>in</strong> nature enviroments,<br />
which she pa<strong>in</strong>ts with oils, acrylic and gold<br />
leaf pa<strong>in</strong>t, carefully consider<strong>in</strong>g every brush<br />
stroke, l<strong>in</strong>e and color.<br />
