• At the Potsdam Conference in Germany, Winston Churchill,<br />
Harry Truman, and Chiang Kai-Shek announced the Potsdam<br />
Declaration, calling for the unconditional surrender of Japan. The<br />
Japanese, unaware of America’s new nuclear arsenal, rejected it.<br />
<strong>July</strong> 26th, 1944<br />
• The U.S. Army begins to desegregate its training<br />
camo facilities, marking the first step towards battlefield<br />
integration. However, the official order from the president<br />
would not come until 4 years later.<br />

• The Korean War comes to an end following the signing of<br />
an armistice by U.S. and North Korean delegates. The armistice<br />
