paint, or engrave it, on any thing moveable or immoveable,<br />

under the whole canopy of heaven, whereby or whereon<br />

the least letter, figure* character, mark, stain, shadow, or<br />

resemblance of the same, may become legible or intelligible,<br />

to myself, or any other person in the known world, whereby<br />

the secrets of <strong>Masonry</strong> may be unlawfully obtained.'*<br />

"Not write, print, stamp—it." what is it?~—h refers to<br />

Ancient <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Masonry</strong>: " Not the least letter, figure, character/'<br />

&c. then, of Ancient <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Masonry</strong>, may be written,<br />

" whereby the secrets of <strong>Masonry</strong> may be unlawfully obtained"<br />

IT, or Ancient <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Masonry</strong>, the object of the actions<br />

forbidden in the oath, is an impossible thing, and false.<br />

It is contrary to religion to be silent on the subject; contrary<br />

to the fealty due both to God and to my country, to<br />

represent <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Masonry</strong> otherwise than false and impossible.<br />

I suppose the secrets of <strong>Free</strong> <strong>Masonry</strong>, are true; and true<br />

secrets of the craft it is not my purpose to expose. Our<br />
