� Percentage total sleep<br />

<strong>The</strong> factors related to sleep environment (use <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>fant sleep<strong>in</strong>g bag, room and<br />

rout<strong>in</strong>e sleep<strong>in</strong>g surface/bed) had no <strong>in</strong>dependent on night time melaton<strong>in</strong> secretion.<br />

A trend was observed that <strong>in</strong>fants put whose sleep period stared earlier had higher<br />

night time melaton<strong>in</strong> levels. <strong>Infants</strong> who had shorter sleep latency also had a<br />

tendency to secrete higher melaton<strong>in</strong> (Table 9.6). This was non-significant. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

were no trends observed for other sleep parameters <strong>in</strong>vestigated (see list on previous<br />

page).<br />
