Updating the VTOC following volume expansion<br />

Specifying REFVTOC on the F DEVMAN command uses ICKDSF to automatically<br />

REFORMAT/REFVTOC a volume when it has been expanded. See z/<strong>OS</strong> MVS <strong>System</strong><br />

Commands, SA22-7627.<br />

Specifying REFVTOC={ENABLE | DISABLE} in the DEVSUPxx parmlib member to indicate<br />

whether you want to enable or disable the use <strong>of</strong> ICKDSF to automatically<br />

REFORMAT/REFVTOC a volume when it is expanded. See z/<strong>OS</strong> MVS Initialization and<br />

Tuning Reference, SA22-7592.<br />

You can also use the F DEVMAN,ENABLE(REFVTOC) command after an IPL as well to<br />

enable automatic VTOC and index reformatting. However, update the DEVSUPxx parmlib<br />

member to ensure that it remains enabled across subsequent IPLs.<br />

Using DEVMAN<br />

The DEVMAN REPORT display has the following format, as shown in Figure 3-26.<br />

Where:<br />

FMID Displays the FMID level <strong>of</strong> DEVMAN.<br />

APARS Displays any DEVMAN APARs that are installed (or the word NONE).<br />

OPTIONS Displays the currently enabled options (in the example, REFVTOC is<br />

enabled).<br />

SUBTASKS Lists the status <strong>of</strong> any subtasks that are currently executing.<br />
