Updating the VTOC following volume expansion Specifying REFVTOC on the F DEVMAN command uses ICKDSF to automatically REFORMAT/REFVTOC a volume when it has been expanded. See z/OS MVS System Commands, SA22-7627. Specifying REFVTOC={ENABLE | DISABLE} in the DEVSUPxx parmlib member to indicate whether you want to enable or disable the use of ICKDSF to automatically REFORMAT/REFVTOC a volume when it is expanded. See z/OS MVS Initialization and Tuning Reference, SA22-7592. You can also use the F DEVMAN,ENABLE(REFVTOC) command after an IPL as well to enable automatic VTOC and index reformatting. However, update the DEVSUPxx parmlib member to ensure that it remains enabled across subsequent IPLs. Using DEVMAN The DEVMAN REPORT display has the following format, as shown in Figure 3-26. Where: FMID Displays the FMID level of DEVMAN. APARS Displays any DEVMAN APARs that are installed (or the word NONE). OPTIONS Displays the currently enabled options (in the example, REFVTOC is enabled). SUBTASKS Lists the status of any subtasks that are currently executing. Volumes can be in their dedicated storage group or pool, or mixed with other volumes. Adding and enabling them to these pools allows the system to allocate VSAM data sets in cylinder-managed space if the USEEAV parmlib setting is set to YES. When USEEAV is set to NO, no new data set creates (even non-VSAM) are allowed on any EAV in the system. IGDSMSxx parmlib member changes to be able to use EAV volumes USEEAV(YES|NO) specifies, at the system level, whether SMS can select an extended address volume during volume selection processing.
