3.17 Increase capacity <strong>of</strong> volumes<br />

Figure 3-17 is displayed after you select Increase Capacity. A warning message is issued<br />

regarding a possible volume type change to 3390 custom. You can then select Close<br />

Message. Notice that the panel displays the maximum number <strong>of</strong> cylinders that can be<br />

specified.<br />

After you close the message, the panel in Figure 3-18 on page 81 is displayed where you can<br />

specify the number <strong>of</strong> cylinders to increase the volume size. When you specify a new capacity<br />

to be applied to the selected volume, specify a value that is between the minimum and<br />

maximum size values that are displayed. Maximum values cannot exceed the amount <strong>of</strong> total<br />

storage that is available.<br />

Note: Only volumes <strong>of</strong> type 3390 model 3, 3390 model 9, and 3390 custom, can be<br />

expanded. The total volume cannot exceed the available capacity <strong>of</strong> the storage image.<br />

Capacity cannot be increased for volumes that are associated with Copy Services<br />

functions.<br />
