DFSMSdmm provides the following functions:<br />

DFSMSrmm component<br />

DFSMSrmm manages your removable media resources, including tape cartridges and reels.<br />

It provides the following functions.<br />

Library management<br />

You can create tape libraries, or collections <strong>of</strong> tape media associated with tape drives, to<br />

balance the work <strong>of</strong> your tape drives and help the operators that use them.<br />

DFSMSrmm can manage the following devices:<br />

► A removable media library, which incorporates all other libraries, such as:<br />

– <strong>System</strong>-managed manual tape libraries.<br />

– <strong>System</strong>-managed automated tape libraries. Examples <strong>of</strong> automated tape libraries<br />

include:<br />

<strong>IBM</strong> TotalStorage®<br />

Enterprise Automated Tape Library (3494)<br />

<strong>IBM</strong> TotalStorage Virtual Tape Servers (VTS)<br />

► Non-system-managed or traditional tape libraries, including automated libraries such as a<br />

library under Basic Tape Library Support (BTLS) control.<br />
