SMS storage class changes<br />

After defining your cache sets, you need to assign them to one or more storage classes (SC)<br />

so that data sets associated with those SCs are eligible for VSAM RLS by using Coupling<br />

Facility cache structures.<br />

Follow these steps to assign the CF cache sets:<br />

1. Select option 5, Storage Class, from the ISMF primary option menu for storage<br />

administrators<br />

2. Select option 3, Define, and make sure, that you specified the right SCDS name<br />

3. On the second page <strong>of</strong> the STORAGE CLASS DEFINE panel enter the name <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Coupling Facility cache set you defined in the base configuration (see Figure 7-23 on<br />

page 407).<br />

4. On the same panel enter values for direct and sequential weight. The higher the value, the<br />

more important it is that the data be assigned more cache resources.<br />
