natural to consider offshore sites. They have the advantages of a good wind
resource and lack of interference with neighbors, making very large projects
possible. Offshore projects are expensive to construct and maintain, but will
become economically viable as fossil-fuel prices rise. Presently electricity from
offshore windfarms is 150–200% more costly than onshore wind electricity.
Technical issues for offshore wind include erection methods (e.g. Figure 6.10 )
and foundation designs (e.g. Figure 6.11 ) [4] .
