11 Toolbars and Status Bar<br />

11.1 Toolbars<br />

<strong>QlikView</strong> has five standard toolbars and one menubar. The standard toolbar normally contains buttons for<br />

tasks performed while using <strong>QlikView</strong> documents, whereas the design toolbar normally contains buttons for<br />

tasks performed when creating or changing the layout of a document. The navigation toolbar contains the<br />

most frequently used commands for logical operations in a document. The sheet toolbar offers an alternative<br />

method for navigating different sheets whereas the bookmark toolbar offers an alternative way of accessing<br />

bookmarks.<br />

Each of the toolbars can be individually enabled and disabled. All toolbars are completely customizable and<br />

may contain any of the available command buttons.<br />

All toolbars can be moved around by pointing at them on the dotted line to their far left. Hold down the left<br />

mouse button and drag to any position. The toolbars can be docked to any side of the <strong>QlikView</strong> application<br />

window.<br />

11.2 Standard Toolbar<br />

The standard toolbar<br />

The <strong>QlikView</strong> standard toolbar contains buttons for the most frequently needed functions. To toggle the<br />

standard toolbar on or off choose Standard Toolbar under Toolbars on the View menu. The figure above<br />

and the text below refer to the default contents of the standard toolbar.<br />

New File Opens a new <strong>QlikView</strong> window and allows to create a new <strong>QlikView</strong><br />

File (page 51). This command can also be invoked by the following keyboard<br />

shortcut: CTRL+N.<br />

Open File Allows the opening of a <strong>QlikView</strong> File (page 51) or Table file in a new<br />

<strong>QlikView</strong> window. Opening a table file automatically opens the File<br />

Wizard: Type (page 196). This command can also be invoked by the following<br />

keyboard shortcut: CTRL+O.<br />

Refresh This command is only available with documents opened on <strong>QlikView</strong><br />

Server and when there is a newer version of the document available on<br />

the server. When invoking a refresh access is gained to the latest data,<br />

while maintaining the session including selections and layout state.<br />

Save Saves the active document as a file. The default file format is set in User<br />

Preferences: Save (page 81).<br />

Print... Clicking the print tool immediately effects the printout of the selected<br />

sheet object according to default printer settings, bypassing the Print:<br />

General (page 99) property page. The tool will be grayed if no printable<br />

object is selected. This command can also be invoked by the following<br />

keyboard shortcut: CTRL+P.<br />
