Guide to <strong>STN</strong> Patent Databases<br />
From the publication year 2000 patent numbers with a lead<strong>in</strong>g or trail<strong>in</strong>g year will always be <strong>in</strong>dexed as a 2-4-6<br />
str<strong>in</strong>g, i.e. 2 characters for the country, 4 digits for the year, and 6 digits for the number. A trail<strong>in</strong>g year will be moved<br />
to the front (e.g. Australia). The numbers of US or WO Applications may be entered both as a 2-4-6-str<strong>in</strong>g or us<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the orig<strong>in</strong>al format from the document (automatic field edit).<br />
The Document K<strong>in</strong>d Code is to be omitted <strong>in</strong> the search query. The search queries for the above numbers would<br />
